Hornblower and The SF SPCA Introduce Dog Day on the Bay - May 22
'Poop Deck,' Water Bars and Doggie Diner Buffet Appeal to Parents of Pooches
SAN FRANCISCO, April 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Hornblower Cruises & Events and The San Francisco SPCA are introducing Dog Day on the Bay, a brunch cruise for dogs and their owners on Sunday, May 22.
Created as a fundraiser for The SF SPCA, Dog Day on the Bay presents a unique opportunity for canine lovers and supporters to enjoy a Sunday afternoon -- without having to leave Fido at home. And making the afternoon outing that much more enjoyable, a number of luxuries will be added to the traditional brunch experience. For example, a doggie relief area (err, 'poop' deck) complete with sod; a canine buffet with homemade pet treats, dog food, etc., and water bars for dogs to "belly up" on all exterior decks will be provided. Humans will indulge in the gourmet buffet and free-flowing champagne.
Answering all safety concerns, both Hornblower and The SF SPCA have created a list of guidelines for all pet owners to accept before purchasing tickets. Guidelines include restrictions such as no aggressive dogs, no dogs in heat, leashes at all times, etc. Additionally, The SF SPCA will be providing experienced dog monitors on each deck; a staff veterinarian and other SPCA staff to assist with canine questions and concerns. Although the outer decks are equipped with mesh railings, netting will also be affixed for additional safety.
Dogs cruise free. Human tickets are available for $85, including tax and gratuity, with approximately $20 from each ticket donated to The SF SPCA. No discounts are offered for this cruise. Dog Day on the Bay will begin boarding at 10 a.m. from Pier 33 and will cruise from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. For information, a complete list of pet guidelines or to purchase tickets, visit hornblowerholidays.com or call 1-800-ON-THE-BAY.
