Dollar Rent A Car and Thrifty Car Rental Each Add Location at Akron-Canton Airport
TULSA, Okla., Nov. 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group, Inc. (NYSE:DTG) today announced its Dollar Rent A Car and Thrifty Car Rental brands have each added an in-terminal location at Akron-Canton Airport (CAK) in Ohio.
Thrifty has provided service to CAK from an off-airport location for a number of years. Thrifty will continue to serve the local market from the 4400 Portage Street N.W. property. Both corporately-owned counters are located in the terminal's lower level baggage claim area. The opening marks the first time the Dollar brand has served the Akron-Canton Airport.
"The Akron-Canton Airport is nearing completion of a new concourse, culminating a five-year $60 million improvement project," said Jay Foley, senior executive vice president of corporate operations. "It's an important market for us because the airport attracts passengers from the surrounding area including Cleveland, Youngstown and Western Pennsylvania."
Six airlines serve the airport including AirTran Airways, Frontier Airlines, Delta Connection, Northwest Airlink, United Express and US Airways Express. Akron-Canton was the second fastest growing airport in the nation from 2001-2004, with a 100 percent increase in capacity over that time.
