PIEDMONT, ITALY -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 03/17/2005 -- An American woman buys a house in Italy on eBay and is now offering tours of the area this summer.
Meri DeLorenzo Howard was looking for a house to buy near her relatives in Bologna, Italy, but house prices were more than she could afford. One day she discovered an ad on eBay for a newly remodeled four-story century-old house in Piedmont near Milan, the Alps, and the Italian Lakes Region.
The price was right and she won the bid. She discovered that the house was more beautiful than described in the eBay ad. It has open beamed ceilings, built-in cabinetry, a fireplace, and a large garden courtyard. It is across the street from a park and river canal with mountain views.
Wishing to share the house and the surrounding area with others, she is offering weeklong tours for 6 persons at a time this summer. The tours are unique personalized experiences, which include meals of local cuisine prepared by Ms. Howard, a gourmet cook, plus visits to restaurants known for their local specialties.
Ms. Howard is offering a cultural sightseeing tour to Milan, Torino and the Italian lakes with a visit to the Duomo, Da Vinci's Last Supper, the Shroud of Turin, and an opera at La Scala. She also has a wine tour to taste the best Barolos, Barbarescos, and other exceptional wine grown in the region.
Ms. Howard also offers an Italian folk music tour, a hiking tour in the Alps and le cinque terre, and a tour visiting the spiritual sites in the area.
