FEATURING A LABYRINTH – AN ANCIENT PATH TO SELF DISCOVERY

Evensong’s most unique amenity reaches back through the ages to connect with ancient healing wisdom of 13th Century France, Crete of 500 BCE and Greece of three thousand years ago. Evensong is the only spa in Midwest to offer the time-tested path of self-discovery, contemplation and healing: the labyrinth.

“A labyrinth is a single path, called a ‘unicursal”, a tool for personal, psychological and spiritual transformation,” explains Scott Krause, General Manager at Heidel House. “Walking a labyrinth can be a metaphor for the journey to the center of your deepest self and back out into the world with a broadened understanding of who you are.”

Bill Kunkler, executive vice president of Fiore Companies, who developed Evensong, said that the spa is about more than just physical pampering. “Evensong Spa has many of the same services and amenities popular at spas, but it is also a retreat,” Kunkler said. “It’s a place of nature, with woods and wetlands, paths and trails. A place for contemplation. The labyrinth is a part of that experience.”

“At Evensong Spa, we give you the opportunity to take the time to breathe, to be yourself, to connect with the big picture,” said Kunkler. Evensong is about spiritual nourishment as well as physical pampering.”

GREEN LAKE HAS A LONG HISTORY AS A PLACE OF INSPIRATION

Green Lake was created as the Wisconsin Glacier receded more than 10,000 years ago. The area has traditionally been a place of spirituality, going back to the Ho-Chunk tribe, who lived in the area in the 1600s. They believed the area was home to a great spirit and they made the trip to Green Lake to commune with it. Since the mid-1800s Green Lake has been a popular lake retreat for travelers and families looking for natural beauty and recreation.
