UNITED AIRLINES TO REOPEN INCHEON-SAN FRANCISCO ROUTE NEXT MONTH

SEOUL – United Airlines will resume direct flights between San Francisco and the South Korean destination of Incheon. From April 4, the carrier plans to offer a daily flight to San Francisco from Incheon International Airport west of Seoul at 1 p.m. The recommencement will boost United’s flight frequency to South Korea from the present 14 to 21.

EVA AIR INCREASES FREQUENCY TO LOS ANGELES, SAN FRANCISCO & SEATTLE

TAIPEI – Taiwan carrier EVA Air will increase flights to Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle, with its summer schedule from March 26. From March 27, EVA is boosting its Los Angeles-Taipei route from 14 to 17 services per week. On June 6 EVA will offer a dedicated Seattle-Taipei flight. And from June 14, the airline is increasing flights between San Francisco and Taipei from 11 to 12 per week.

CONTINENTAL INTRODUCES ONLINE CHECK-IN DEPARTING HONG KONG & BEIJING

HONG KONG – Continental Airlines has made available an online check-in service for passengers departing from Hong Kong and Beijing international airports. Passengers can check-in via the internet anytime between 60 minutes and 24 hours prior to scheduled departure. Hong Kong and Beijing passengers with e-tickets need to logon to www.continental.com or www.continental.com/hk/hke and follow the instructions. The airline has also announced a fare promotion to mark the fifth anniversary of its Hong Kong-New York flight. Until May 15 passengers can fly to any US destination from Hong Kong and return for HK$5,900 (US$760).

SINGAPORE AIRLINES LAUNCHES BROADBAND ON SYDNEY-SINGAPORE ROUTE

SINGAPORE – Passengers flying between Singapore and Sydney with Singapore Airlines can now access broadband Internet using the Connexion by Boeing SM inflight Internet service. Passengers can now log on to the internet while in flight using their wireless-enabled laptops. Connexion by Boeing is currently available on a number of Singapore Airlines flights between Singapore and Sydney, and will be rolled out to other cities as more aircraft are fitted with the service. Charges range from US$9.95 for one hour to US$26.95 for unlimited flight access over a 24-hour period, including multi-sector flights.

FINNAIR TO OFFER MORE FLIGHTS TO HONG KONG, SHANGHAI AND GUANGZHOU

HELSINKI – Helsinki-based carrier Finnair is boosting frequencies to Chinese destinations. The service to Hong Kong will be raised from three times a week to four times a week from July until the end of October. Flights to Shanghai will be boosted from five times a week to seven as of July and services to Guangzhou will increase from three times per week to four.

LAN AIRLINES TO INCREASE FLIGHTS BETWEEN SYDNEY AND SANTIAGO IN CHILE

CHILE – LAN Airlines will add a sixth weekly flight from Sydney to Santiago, Chile, from July 2. The new service will operate every Sunday and is now available for sale. The carrier presently offers Sydney-Santiago flights every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday morning.

BIZ CLASS AIRLINE DELAYS LAUNCH OF MELBOURNE-PERTH SERVICE

SYDNEY – Business class airline Ozjet has delayed the launch of its Melbourne-Perth service due to a low level of interest in the overnight flight. The flight that was to leave Perth at 2330 AWST will now take off at 0700 each day after demand for the “redeye” proved to be lower than expected. The flights were expected to begin early next week, but will now take off in early April.
