TIGER AIRWAYS TO LAUNCH SINGAPORE-DARWIN SERVICE

SINGAPORE – Singapore-based Tiger Airways plans to launch flights between Singapore – Darwin, Australia from Monday, 19 December 2005 subject to government approvals. The airline plans to initially offer four flights per week on the new route. Launch fares are expected to start at just S$49.98 (A$39.98, US$) one way on the Singapore-Darwin route, with sales beginning today (Thursday).

BANGKOK’S DON MUANG AIRPORT TO ACCOMMODATE NO-FRILLS AIRLINES

BANGKOK – The decades-old Bangkok International Airport, widely known as the Don Muang Airport, will serve as a secondary airport to accommodate no-frills airlines, chartered flights and private jets once the capital’s new Suvarnabhumi Airport opens for business next year. The new Suvarnabhumi International Airport is expected to begin commercial operations in June, 2006.

TURKISH AIRLINES INCREASES WEEKLY NEW DELHI-ISTANBUL FLIGHTS

NEW DELHI – Turkish Airlines has added two more flights between New Delhi and Istanbul, taking the total to five a week. The flights from New Delhi will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Sundays and Mondays. However, it will reduce its services during the `fog period’ between December 16 and February 15 to three a week, when the flights will operate on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

STARWOOD TO OPEN NEW HOTEL IN SHANGHAI

SHANGHAI – Starwood is to open a new 400-room W Hotel in Pudong, Shanghai’s central financial district. The newly built hotel, scheduled to open in 2008, will be the first W Hotel in China.

GRAND MERCURE PARK AVENUE BANGKOK TO JOIN ACCOR

LAN AIRLINES ADDS NEW SERVICE ON SYDNEY-SANTIAGO SECTOR

SYDNEY – LAN Airlines, a member of the oneworld global alliance, has introduced a fifth weekly flight from Sydney to Santiago, and has foreshadowed a sixth weekly service by November 2006. LAN’s fifth flight from Sydney operates every Tuesday, complementing its current schedule of Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday services. Flight LA 800 departs Sydney at 10.15am, arriving in Santiago, via Auckland, New Zealand, at 12.10pm the same day. The return service, flight LA801, leaves Santiago at 11.10 pm every Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, arriving in Sydney, via Auckland, at 7.20 am on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

JAL LAUNCHES NEW FREQUENT FLYER PROMOTION

TOKYO – JAL has launched one of its biggest ever frequent flyer mileage campaigns – the All JAL Double Mileage Campaign. Between 1 December and 31 March 2006, members of JAL’s frequent flyer program, the JAL Mileage Bank (JMB), will be able to earn double the flight mileage normally offered when they travel on JAL Group airline’s global network. During the campaign period, double flight mileage can be accumulated in all classes on all of JAL Group’s international and Japan domestic flights, as well as code share flights operated by partner airlines booked under the JAL (JL) flight number. JMB members are required to register for the campaign in advance of travel through either the JAL Website or JMB Center applicable to their JMB region.

ACCOR TO OPEN THREE NEW IBIS HOTELS IN BANGKOK

BANGKOK – Accor is to launch its Ibis hotel brand in Bangkok with three hotels in key commercial areas. The 189-room Ibis Siam Bangkok is five-minutes from popular Pratunam shopping area with access to the Victory Monument BTS Skytrain station, while the 288-room Ibis Huamark Bangkok is near Ramkamheng University and the Huamark Stadium. As with all Ibis hotels, they will offer one bar and one restaurant. The 150-room Ibis Fenix Bangkok is located off Sukhumvit Road on Soi 11, near the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre, the BTS Skytrain station and recently opened Bangkok Mass Rapid Transit underground system. The hotel will also offer a gym and meeting facilities. The first two Ibis hotels are scheduled to open in January 2006, with the Ibis Fenix Bangkok expected to open late 2006.
