TIGER AIRWAYS OFFERS 50 PCT DISCOUNT TO ALL ITS DESTINATIONS

SINGAPORE - Singapore-based budget airline Tiger Airways, in celebration of its first anniversary, is offering a 50% discount on all its fares to all of its destinations. Bookings commence on 15 September and end on 20 September, for the travel period from 15 October to 15 December, 2005. Tiger Airways will commence flights to Krabi, its 11th Asia-Pacific destination, on 7 October this year while flights between Macau and Manila (Clark) will commence on 30 October 2005.

GULF AIR LAUNCHES MASSIVE SEAT SALE

BAHRAIN - Gulf Air has launched a seat sale that runs until 18 September. Over a million seats are on offer at special discounts, to a wide range of destinations across the carrier's network. Tickets must be issued before 7 December 2005, and the return journey must be completed before 15 December 2005. The maximum stay is three months although there is no minimum stay requirement.

JET AIRWAYS TO LAUNCH DAILY NON-STOP FLIGHTS BETWEEN NEW DELHI AND LONDON

NEW DELHI - India's Jet Airways has announced that it will launch a daily non-stop flight from New Delhi to London Heathrow from 30 October 2005. The early morning flight 9W 122 will depart daily from the Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi at 0255 hrs and will arrive at London Heathrow Airport at a 0700 hrs. From London Heathrow, 9W 121 will depart daily at 0930 hrs and arrive into Delhi at 2335 hrs the same day.

PACIFIC BLUE TO LAUNCH FLIGHTS TO TONGA

SYDNEY - Virgin Blue's international carrier Pacific Blue will on 31 October 2005 begin direct flights to Tonga from Australia and New Zealand. Pacific Blue will initially offer two direct flights a week from Sydney to Tonga, and three direct flights between Auckland and Tonga. The new services to Tonga, subject to government approval, will be the fourth South Pacific destination operated by Pacific Blue after the launch of flights from Australia to Vanuatu and Fiji last year.

LAN AIRLINES AND KOREAN AIR CODESHARE BETWEEN SEOUL AND SANTIAGO

SEOUL - Chile-based LAN Airlines and Korean Air have begun joint operation of the Seoul-Los Angeles-Santiago route based on codesharing, aimed at developing air connections between these destinations. Korean Air passengers will enjoy greater options for flying to various points in Latin America. LAN Airlines passengers will have use of all facilities for traveling to Korea with multiple choices on schedules and frequencies. The first stage took effect on the Seoul-Los Angeles-Santiago route on 10 September 2005.

SINGAPORE AIRLINES TO INCREASE FUEL SURCHARGE

SINGAPORE - Singapore Airlines will increase its fuel surcharge for tickets issued on or after 14 September 2005. An increase of US$3 to US$15 per sector, will apply for flights between Singapore and Bandar Seri Begawan, Bangkok, Denpasar, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Jakarta, Manila, Penang and Surabaya. The same increase will apply on Kuala Lumpur flights for tickets issued on or after 21 September 2005. An increase of US$5 to US$50 per sector will apply on all other flights.

NORTHWEST TO SUSPEND ITS NONSTOP NEW YORK-TOKYO SERVICE

NEW YORK - Due to the record-high cost of jet fuel, Northwest Airlines has announced that it will indefinitely suspend its daily nonstop service from New York's JFK Airport to Tokyo's Narita Airport. Northwest's nonstop New York-Tokyo service will be discontinued from October 2. The airline will however continue to offer single connecting service from New York area airports to Tokyo through its Detroit and Minneapolis/St. Paul hubs.

STAR ALLIANCE LAUNCHES FFP UPGRADE AWARDS

SINGAPORE - Star Alliance is offering Frequent Flyer Programme (FFP) upgrade redemption option across the alliance, rather than on an individual carrier basis, now available to the FFP members of ANA (ANA Mileage Club), Lufthansa (Miles & More) and Singapore Airlines (KrisFlyer). Other Star Alliance member carriers will begin to offer this product during 2006. Star Alliance Upgrade Awards allows customers to redeem miles or points from their FFP account to upgrade by one class, either from Economy Class to Business Class or from Business Class to First Class, on scheduled flights operated by participating member carriers.

THAI AIRWAYS LAUNCHES CORPORATE TRAVEL CARD

BANGKOK - Thai Airways International in cooperation with the Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) and Krungthai Card Public Company Limited (KTC) are launching a THAI Corporate Travel Card. The card will be extended to Thailand's leading companies for special privilege packages from THAI on flights from Bangkok to Phuket, Krabi, and Trang. Cardholder privileges include special air fares for flying THAI services, 50% discount for weekday travel and 30% for weekend travel, and special support for corporate meetings, seminars, and incentives by TCEB.

SHANGRI-LA HOTELS AND RESORTS OPENS NEW DELHI HOTEL

NEW DELHI - Leading luxury hotel group Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts has opened its first-ever hotel in India, on 8 September. The 17-storey hotel opened with a limited inventory of guestrooms and suites, with the remaining rooms inventory to be unveiled at the hotel's grand opening in early November 2005, for a total of 323 guestrooms and suites.
