Expedia and MSN Expand Strategic Relationship
New Agreement Will Include Expedia.com, Hotwire.com, Hotels.com and TripAdvisor.com on MSN
BELLEVUE, Wash., Aug. 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Expedia, one of the world's leading travel service companies, today announced that it has renewed and expanded its agreement with MSN, Microsoft Corp.'s network of Internet services, a world leader on the Web. Expedia.com(R) has powered the travel channel on MSN.com and many localized MSN sites around the world since 1999. The new and expanded agreement will continue on MSN.com and the MSN localized sites but will now include other brands in the Expedia family of leading travel sites such as Hotels.com(TM), Hotwire.com(R) and TripAdvisor.com(TM), giving consumers more travel booking options from the MSN Travel channel. Details of how those brands will be presented within the MSN Travel channel will be disclosed at a later date.
"This agreement is a testament to the power that the Expedia family of sites can provide to both consumers and to partners such as Microsoft," said Dara Khosrowshahi, CEO of Expedia, Inc. "MSN has more than 420 million unique visitors worldwide per month, and we are excited about the opportunity to help MSN provide travel services to the MSN customer base in countries such as the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France and Italy."
"Expedia has the right travel expertise, breadth of offerings and global footprint to help make the MSN Travel channel more valuable than ever before," said Yusuf Mehdi, senior vice president of MSN Information Services and Merchant Platform.
