Expedia.com Passes 50,000 Traveler Opinions Milestone

Expedia Travelers Offer Valuable Commentary, Tips, and Advice on Expedia.com

BELLEVUE, Wash., June 28 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — Expedia.com(R), the world’s leading online travel service, today announced that within just seven months of launching its hotel reviews program, it has posted more than 50,000 traveler opinions — an online travel agency first.

“It’s simple — people love to give and receive travel advice, so the number of hotel opinions posted on Expedia(R) have quickly multiplied and have proven extremely helpful to our customers,” said Kari Swartz, Expedia.com leisure travel expert. “Our traveler opinions — along with extensive hotel photos, virtual tours, star ratings, amenity details and more — provide travelers with the resources they need to find the hotel that’s right for them.”

Expedia’s traveler opinions have been successful because they are relevant, timely, unbiased and authentic. Unlike some other sites, only Expedia allows travelers with a verified stay at a particular hotel within the last six months to write a review. To keep the timeliness and accuracy of the reviews, Expedia’s traveler opinions are also only shown for a maximum of one year. And only on Expedia do hotels have the opportunity to post a response to any opinion — allowing hoteliers to share their own commentary and provide additional insight and/or developments since the opinion was posted. All of these guidelines work to ensure that travelers receive valuable, unbiased, balanced feedback that can help them select the right hotel for their trip.

Traveler opinions can be submitted for any Expedia(R) Special Rate (ESR) hotel on Expedia.com. To read or learn more about submitting traveler opinions, Expedia customers can simply visit https://expedia.com/traveleropinions or click on the “traveler opinions” tab on the left-hand side of each hotel’s information page. See below for a few examples of traveler opinions found on Expedia.com in the last few weeks:

Roosevelt Hotel — Hollywood, California

“If you want TLC, this is the place!” (Stefanie V., East San Fernando Valley, CA)

— Overall Rating: 4
— Review: What a fabulous ‘old Hollywood’ hotel! You really get the feeling of being somewhere elegant and special – right in the middle of Hollywood. The entire staff was A+, no matter what your income. I drove up in my ‘rough & tumble’ Ford truck and the valet service didn’t flinch. We were there for the latest Star Wars film opening, so we mostly slept between viewings. We’ll be back!
— Dining Tip: If you’re on a budget, there are a variety of take-out places within a 1/4 mile: In & Out Burger, IHOP, Baja Fresh, Johnny Rockets (in the Hollywood & Highland shopping complex across the street).

Laurel Point Inn — Victoria, British Columbia
“Victoria’s Finest!” (Mary Kay E., Martinez, CA)
— Overall Rating: 5
— Review: What a wonderful experience! From our early check-in (10AM!!), efficient check-out and close-by hotel parking, our stay at the Laurel Point Inn was fantastic. The view from our room of Victoria’s Harbor was breathtaking; the breakfast buffet was simply delicious; the friendly staff so welcoming; the drinks and entertainment so relaxing!
— Local Attractions Tip: Although we had a car, travelers staying at the Laurel Point Inn have easy access to all the local points of interest in Victoria.

Camino Real — Cancun, Mexico
“Not to be missed!” (Pat P., Lansdale, PA)
— Overall Rating: 5
— Review (excerpt): Last month we vacationed at the Dreams Cancun resort with another couple. The hotel offered the best of all worlds with its secluded location at the tip of the Punta Peninsula, yet it was within walking distance to many of the shopping and partying spots. This all-inclusive is the way to go, particularly when the four restaurants offered a tasty variety!
— Nightlife Tip: Check out the Latin dance club that is on property! The eight piece band is very, very entertaining. Each night your cover is waived and you get two free drinks.
