FallinPA.com Proves Why Fall is Bigger in Pennsylvania
New Roadtrips, Foliage Updates via Cell phones and PDAs, Leaf Web Cams controlled Remotely
HARRISBURG, Pa., Aug. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- PA Governor Edward G. Rendell today announced the return of the http://www.fallinpa.com/ Web site, an interactive fall foliage guide allowing visitors to view live fall foliage scenes in some of the state's most picturesque regions. FallinPA.com, set to go live on Sept. 9, is a micro site of Pennsylvania's official tourism Web site, VisitPA.com.
"Pennsylvania continues to use technology to reach visitors and offer them new and convenient ways to access Pennsylvania's fall foliage report," said Governor Rendell. "This year, visitors will have the option to receive the most current updates in our spectacular fall foliage via their cell phones, Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) and BlackBerrys in addition to three live remote-controlled Web cameras."
"With nearly 17 million acres of forest land, lots to see and do, and numerous foliage festivals, fall is just bigger in Pennsylvania and we take our leaves seriously," said Governor Rendell. "By showcasing our flaming foliage, we hope to inspire visitors to hit the road and experience Pennsylvania's changing beauty firsthand through one of our many fall road trips."
Once again, Web cams in Pennsylvania will offer vivid scenes of Bushkill Falls, sights of the rapids at Ohiopyle in the Laurel Highlands, revolutionary views at Valley Forge, and glimpses of Benezette where last year's most popular camera captured both the changing flora and the occasional roaming elk in the Pennsylvania Wilds. Technology allows single viewers on the Web access to control the remote-controlled Web cams that offer real-time images and allow for the visitor to pan, zoom, and completely control the foliage experience.
In addition to the Web cams, visitors are once again encouraged to post fall road trip photos to FallinPA.com. New this fall, guests can share stories and photos of foliage from their road trips across the state on VisitPA.com. Both Web sites will feature a Fall Foliage Report, which will regularly chart the progress of the changing leaf colors across the state. Tourists will also be able to use their cell phones, or Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs), to access the most current changes in the leaves.
FallinPA.com includes a comprehensive selection of driving itineraries across Pennsylvania based on interests and activities. Whether visitors are looking for a three-day road trip to local wineries, bed and breakfasts, fairs and festivals, or for just a quick day trip into the countryside to see the foliage, FallinPA.com and VisitPA.com provide various colorful fall destinations.
The Pennsylvania Tourism Office, under the state Department of Community and Economic Development, is dedicated to fulfilling the needs and aspirations of travelers by presenting them with the information and resources they need to plan and enjoy the activities, attractions and destinations that are uniquely Pennsylvania.
