The 4th Annual St. Michaels Food & Wine Festival will be held at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum for the first time this year, providing a beautiful backdrop to a host of exquisite foods, wines, and a taste of the Chesapeake Bay.

St. Michaels, MD (PRWEB) March 15, 2006 -- The 4th Annual St. Michaels Food & Wine Festival will be held at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum for the first time this year, providing a beautiful backdrop to a host of exquisite foods, wines, and a taste of the Chesapeake Bay. The festival will be held April 27 - 30 on Navy Point in St. Michaels.

Festival Chairman Jon Mason started this event four years ago. "It is a natural progression for us to join forces with the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum this year," says Mason. "The Museum is located on one of the most amazing properties in Talbot County. By hosting the event there, we are able to offer guests a sampling of old and new -- Bay history and cutting-edge food and wine."

A number of East Coast chefs have committed to appearing at the 2006 event, including: Jean-Marie Lacroix of the Rittenhouse Hotel in Philadelphia; Jeff Tunks from DC Coast, Washington, DC; and Mark Salter of The Inn at Perry Cabin in St. Michaels, Maryland.

Guests chefs will also do their magic by pairing up with local St. Michaels restaurants. John Doherty of the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City will join Jim Trond at Shore Restaurant and Lounge, and Lynne Tolley, great grand-niece of Jack Daniels, will return for her third year to cook a Southern menu with former Baltimore Chef Michael Rork at Town Dock Restaurant.

Additional chefs and celebrities who be part of the tasting and demonstration tents at the festival include Michael Greene, wine writer for Gourmet magazine; Dylan Schauwecker of the Polynesian Resort at Walt Disney World; Chris Watson of The Buttery Restaurant in Glasgow; and, another Scot, Gregor Cattanach, will return with his selection of Scotch whiskeys.

Festival admission includes access to the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, so guests can explore the Museum's 10 exhibit buildings, climb atop the 125-year-old Hooper Strait Lighthouse for the best panoramic view of the water, and learn the tradition of wooden boat building in the Museum's working Boat Yard. This year's event will provide a unique combination of food and wine with the chance to explore the Chesapeake's rich history in a beautiful waterfront park setting.

Over the weekend, festival guests will be encouraged to take in all that St. Michaels has to offer -- local shops will provide discounts to attendees, restaurants will pair with visiting chefs to offer once-in-a-lifetime dinners, and historic hotels, inns, and B&B's will offer special Food & Wine Festival packages. In 2005, the St. Michaels Food & Wine Festival hosted more than 1,200 people and raised over $17,000 for local charities. Proceeds from this year's event will also go to local charities.
