The American Public can follow these lucky winners as they live out the experience of a lifetime — a one month immersion in the southern French countryside. During the month of September, the American Public will be able to visit the charming French Countryside, via www.RedBicyclette.com. The site will chronicle the adventures of the three contest winners, complete with weekly diary entries, trip photos, and a forum for consumers to interact with the winners through online question and answer posting.

Selected from among hundreds of contest entrants across the country — from Pennsylvania to Hawaii — Josie, Brian, and Benjamin now begin their exciting trip to the French countryside, courtesy of Red Bicyclette(R) wines. The three Grand Prize winners will trade in bagels for baguettes to enjoy a prize package that includes: round-trip travel to France, one month’s accommodation in one of three delightful furnished cottages — one surrounded by fruit orchards with lovely mountain views; another nestled in a cozy stone village; and a third, placed in a quaint, rustic setting — a generous stipend, and, of course, a red bicycle with which to explore the French countryside!

ABOUT THE CONTEST

Throughout the month of June, interested applicants were asked to submit entries including an essay describing their passion for the French countryside. The pool was narrowed down to the nine most passionate finalists. Their entries were posted online and the American Public voted to select the three Grand Prize Winners.

In addition to the to immersion, grand prize winners will receive a French countryside prize basket including a Le Creuset(R) Round French Oven, to be used upon their return while recreating the delicious French country meals enjoyed during their stay. Six second-prize winners will receive a five piece Screwpull(R) deluxe corkscrew set, perfect for uncorking Red Bicyclette(R) wine.

MEET THE WINNERS

Josie Aaronson-Gelb, Marketing Manager, Chicago, IL: A marketing professional by day, one of Josie’s real passions is freelance writing. What Josie most anticipates about her trip to France is exploring the countryside in search of new story ideas, recipes, and food discoveries that would make good fodder for her writing.

Benjamin Bowman, Photographer, Hillsboro, TX: It was during a past trip through the French countryside that Benjamin decided to pursue a career in photography. Benjamin most looks forward to touring the countryside and capturing the landscape, architecture, and local residents on film for all to see.

Brian Geary, Professional Fireman, Bronxville, NY: As a regular cook in the firehouse where he is employed as a fireman, Brian enjoys serving up culinary delights to his crew. His French immersion will broaden his horizons, as well as his menu repertoire. He plans to learn about the flavors of the French countryside so he can bring ideas back to the firehouse, and to enjoy the scenery, the French people, and the wonderful food and wine.
