Select Registry Announces

Stowe, Vt. (June 6, 2006) Food-loving travelers looking to take more than a souvenir home from their next vacation will relish in afternoons dipping hand- made chocolates, learning to roll a perfect pie crust, and brewing their own micro-ales on a Fun for Foodies Vacation. Capitalizing on the growing trend of experiential vacations, seven Select Registry inns in New England and New York have launched Fun for Foodies Vacations. These epicurean experiences take guests well beyond tourist attractions and popular restaurants into the world of boutique and artisan food producers, and into the kitchens of some of the region's most celebrated chefs.

"The inns have chosen foodie partners that are real treasures," said Keith Kehlbeck, Executive Director of Select Registry. "Guests looking to get off- the-beaten path will delight in intimate, behind-the-scenes classes with chefs, and hands-on experiences with local, specialty food producers that most tourists will only see on the menu at a good restaurant."

>From gourmet picnics to hands-on, behind-the-scenes experiences, the
>Fun
for Foodies Vacations appeal to a broad spectrum of epicurean travelers.
Guests might visit a local cheesemaker to assist in the production of an artisan cheese, samples of which will be sent to their home after they have been aged, or enjoy a lobster harvesting demonstration and lunch cruise.
Many of the inns offer the opportunity to work side-by-side with experienced chefs from the inns as well as from the renowned Johnson & Wales College of Culinary Arts. Guests will to learn the secret to signature dishes, including a perfect crème brulée and real Italian gnocchi. Wine aficionados will enjoy participating in all aspects of winemakingfrom planting to productionas well as classes on pairing and tasting. Of course, a New England foodie tour would not be complete without ample opportunities to tour a maple sugarhouse and sample real maple syrup.

Adventurous culinary enthusiasts will find packages that combine the best of the outdoors with the best of the region's foodfrom moonlit snowshoe and fondue tours to gourmet picnic canoe trips.

The vacation packages are divided into three categories: Extraordinary Epicurean Experiences, offered year round (or nearly so); Seasonal Selections, offered seasonally; and Everyday Bites, a selection of foodie- favorite places that individuals visit may independently. Offerings vary from inn to inn.

The participating inns are all members of Select Registry, an association of innkeepers representing unique and distinguished properties in North America.
