Blog's Daily Posts, Photos and Video Clips Educate Travelers and Agents

MILWAUKEE, Nov. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Funjet Vacations has entered the online blogosphere with a web log (blog) dedicated to providing travelers and travel agents with tourism updates on the Riviera Maya, Mexico, located on the web at http://rivieramayaupdate.blogspot.com/ .

The Funjet Vacations blog provides the latest information about Cancun, the Mayan Riviera, Cozumel and area attractions through relevant interviews with locals; colorful photos; and now, recently-recorded video clips of the hotels and downtown areas -- linked through http://www.funjet.com/ .

After Hurricane Wilma hit the Yucatan Peninsula, Funjet Vacations received thousands of inquiries from travel agents and consumers about the status of hotels, resorts and attractions in the Riviera Maya. The Funjet blog is an online educational tool that meets this need with first-hand accounts from the destination. Plus, it offers an "online community" for enthusiasts of the Riviera Maya.

Tammy Lee, vice president of corporate affairs for The Mark Travel Corporation, which owns Funjet Vacations, said, "To date, mainstream media reports about the Riviera Maya have focused primarily on the negative -- all the damage to the area from the hurricane. The blog offers travel agents and travelers an alternative place to go for information that is current and that they can trust -- because it's being updated by people who live and work in Cancun and the Riviera Maya."

Funjet Vacations has its own representatives in Mexico that provide 24-hour customer service and now give daily tourism updates on the blog.

Funjet's Cancun representative, Zephne du Plessis, recently wrote, "It is great walking through the streets of Playa del Carmen. As far as you can walk friendly faces are there welcoming you into their town, inviting you into their stores, and proudly showing off their merchandise."

The blog allows travelers and travel agents to see the attractions and hotels online and read comments from other visitors. Now, they can book their vacations with confidence knowing which resort areas are open for business and ready to welcome guests. A list of open resorts is available at http://www.funjet.com/ .

For winter travel, Funjet Vacations is offering charter/value flights to Cancun and the Riviera Maya from Cleveland; Denver; Detroit; Kansas City; Milwaukee; Minneapolis/St. Paul; Chicago O'Hare; St. Louis; and Washington- Dulles.

Funjet Vacations also offers scheduled air flights and complete vacation packages to more than 260 destinations.
