Second Year of National Search for Pair of Global Adventurers Launched

Chivas Regal(R) to Pay $100,000 for Editing Duo to Track Down the World’s Most Extraordinary Moments

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., Aug. 16 /PRNewswire/ — For anyone who has ever read a travel editor’s account of a marvelous experience in a faraway place and thought, “I want that job,” the time has come. For the second year, the makers of Chivas Regal Scotch Whisky are conducting a nationwide search for editors to explore the world and document unique and extraordinary experiences for The Chivas Life Guide, a compilation of unique experiences and opportunities around the world.

This year, Chivas Regal is expanding the program to find two individuals to travel together. In the interest of adventure, relaxation, and passionate living, this pair of Chivas Life Guide editors will embark on experiences across the globe together. There is no requirement as to how the editorial candidates are connected. Be they family, friends, or a romantic couple, as a pair they will pursue the extraordinary.

Last year’s Chivas Life editor, David Lyman, had been a reporter and critic for the Detroit Free Press before accepting the position. As the inaugural editor, he logged in over 71,000 miles on a daunting itinerary which took him to locales as varied as Kyoto, Oslo, New Mexico and Mali. He experienced ice hockey in the Himalayas, fly-fishing in New Zealand, department store oysters in Berlin and hot dog nirvana in Los Angeles, scouring 24 countries for the best that life has to offer.

“My itinerary was very specific in terms of places I wanted to be for certain events,” says Lyman. “Along the way, though, fantastic opportunities arose that I hadn’t foreseen, such as witnessing an incredibly raucous Boca Juniors soccer match in Buenos Aires. It’s part of the beauty of travel — and as Chivas Life Guide editor, I was really able to indulge those chance opportunities. In fact, it was my job!” Lyman’s Chivas Life Tips can be viewed at www.thisisthelife.com.

Applications for the two positions will be accepted through October 10, 2005, and will be judged by a panel of travel experts including award-winning travel writer Rudy Maxa, PBS’ “The Savvy Traveler” and host of “Smart Travels” on public television, and Jill Cordes, host of “The Best Of” on The Food Network.
