Greater Phoenix Hosts USA, Mexico, Canada and South Africa as World Baseball Classic Debuts This March
International Games to be Played in Downtown Phoenix' Chase Field
PHOENIX, Feb. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Baseball fans have another reason to visit Greater Phoenix this March. Both Phoenix and Scottsdale will host several World Baseball Classic (WBC) games during the first two weeks of the month. The WBC includes teams from 16 countries, as well as many of the premier players in Major League Baseball.
First-round contests at Chase Field in Downtown Phoenix include: USA vs. Mexico on March 7, USA vs. Canada on March 8 and Mexico vs. Canada on March 9. Three games will also take place at Scottsdale Stadium: Canada vs. South Africa on March 7, Mexico vs. South Africa on March 8 and USA vs. South Africa on March 10.
The World Baseball Classic teams will also play several exhibition games in Greater Phoenix, against Major League split-squads including the Oakland A's, San Francisco Giants, Seattle Mariners, Kansas City Royals, Texas Rangers and San Diego Padres. These teams are among the nine teams that train in Greater Phoenix each March during Cactus League Spring Training.

Also, Cactus League spring training games kick-off on March 2 with nine baseball teams based in Phoenix and three visiting teams from Tucson.
