'Hollywood South' Renaissance: Movie Industry Returns to New Orleans!

NEW ORLEANS, Jan. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- New Orleans, also known as "Hollywood South," is experiencing a renaissance thanks to the return of "Deja vu", a movie that began filming in New Orleans before hurricane Katrina.

"Deja vu", featuring Jim Caviezel and Denzel Washington, tells the story of an FBI agent that travels back in time to save a woman from being murdered and a love story ensues. The cast and crew of the movie will be staying at two of New Orleans' signature properties -- the Renaissance Arts and the Renaissance Pere Marquette -- for the duration of the filming.

The Renaissance Arts is situated in the famous warehouse district and features art installations from local, as well as internationally renowned, artisans such as Dale Chihouly. La Cote Brasserie, the Arts' bustling restaurant, offers a cocktail to compliment Chef Chuck Subra's celebrated cuisine, the Dejatini. The Dejatini is a martini made-to-order. In fact, when you drink it, you may have Deja Vu; remembering the last time you had the perfect martini! The Renaissance Pere Marquette is situated in the central business district, within walking distance to the famed French Quarter restaurants and bars that are open and fully operating, like Galatoire's, Cafe du Monde and Pat O'Brien's.

"The Renaissance hotels are thrilled to be the brand of choice for "Deja vu", and we hope that other film companies will follow suit," said Thomas Foti, General Manager of the Renaissance Arts and Renaissance Pere Marquette hotels. "The movie industry is important to the economic growth and rebuilding efforts of this world-class destination. New Orleans will be called 'Hollywood South' again!"

The movie began pre-production in New Orleans, then moved filming to the city of Shreveport, Louisiana and has now returned to the Crescent City. Major motion pictures that have filmed in New Orleans just over the last few years include "SKELETON KEY", "RUNAWAY JURY", "ALL THE KING'S MEN", "DOUBLE JEOPARDY", "PELICAN BRIEF", "MR. 3000", "DEAD MAN WALKING", "LAST HOLIDAY", "BIG MOMMA'S HOUSE 2", "DUKES OF HAZZARD", "RETIREMENT", and "SONNY BOY" to name a few.

The Renaissance Arts is located at 700 Tchoupitoulas Street, New Orleans, La. 70130. The Renaissance Pere Marquette is located at 817 Common Street, New Orleans, La. 70112. To make a reservation, go to http://www.marriott.com/, http://www.uniquelyrenaissance.com/ or call (800)-Hotels-1.
