MEXICO CITY, Oct. 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste, S.A. de C.V. (NYSE: ASR; BMV: ASUR) (ASUR) the first privatized airport group in Mexico and operator of Cancun Airport and eight others in the southeast of Mexico, today announced that Hurricane Wilma hit the peninsula of Yucatan over the last three days, strongly impacting the region. The Company is in the preliminary stages of evaluating the damage from the hurricane. At the present time, the Company can report the following:
1. Cozumel and Cancun airports have been closed since Friday, October 21
at 15:00 pm and 19:00 pm Mexico time, respectively. The Company has not
yet quantified the number of flights that have been cancelled due to
the impact of the hurricane. The company cannot estimate at the present
time when both airports will open to carry out commercial operations.
2. Due to the impact of hurricane Wilma on the Company’s administrative
offices at the Cancun airport, as well as in the communications
infrastructure of the city, the Company’s earnings announcement for the
third quarter of 2005, which was to be released today before market
open, is now expected to be released before open of market tomorrow.
3. Damages to the infrastructure of the Cozumel and Cancun airports, the
administrative offices of these airports and hotel infrastructure in
the region resulting from the hurricane cannot yet be quantified.
