The Pennsylvania home of John James Audubon will host award-winning children’s book illustrator, Cathy Morrison, on October 7, 2006 during the Mill Grove Fall Apple Festival. Cathy will hold craft sessions for children and sign copies of her latest book, "John Audubon, Young Naturalist."

Indianapolis, IN (PRWEB) September 19, 2006 -- "Go for it and don’t be intimidated or discouraged,” advises award-winning illustrator Cathy Morrison to kids who want to be artists. “Always keep working to find your own style.”

Children and their parents can learn more when Cathy, former resident of West Chester, Pennsylvania, visits the John James Audubon Center at Mill Grove’s Fall Apple Festival on October 7 between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., holding craft sessions for children and signing copies of her latest book in the Young Patriots Series, "John Audubon, Young Naturalist." Admission to the Festival is free.

In addition to her drawings featured in "John Audubon, Young Naturalist" and the other 12 volumes of the Young Patriots Series of historical fiction for young readers, Cathy’s 20+ years as an artist have included graphic design, advertising, and a long career in children’s book illustration. Books featuring Cathy’s art have won numerous national awards, including the Parent’s Choice award, Independent Publisher’s Ten Most Outstanding Books in Juvenile Fiction, ForeWord Magazine’s Book of the Year and the National Parenting Center’s designation as Outstanding.

Illustrating "John Audubon, Young Naturalist" was a special challenge for Cathy. “John James Audubon set the bar for wildlife illustration and nobody has ever achieved what he accomplished. I tried very hard to honor his legacy not by recreating his art, which is impossible, but by visually telling the story of his life."
