Independence Air Makes Service Promise to Consumers Unique in the U.S. Airline Industry; Your Checked Bag Will Arrive at Your Final Destination Along With You, or Your Fare is on Us
DULLES, Va., May 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- As a way to highlight its growing reputation for excellence in customer service and operational performance, low-fare airline Independence Air (NASDAQ:FLYI) is proud to announce a new service promise unlike anything that has ever been offered in the U.S. airline industry:
In the rare event that a customer's checked bag does not arrive at their final destination when they do, Independence Air will gladly offer a credit for future travel in the amount of the one-way fare paid for that flight, to be used by the customer any time within the next year.
Since the company began operating exclusively as Independence Air last November, its performance in the U.S. Department of Transportation's Air Travel Consumer Report monthly rankings has improved significantly. In the areas of on-time arrivals, fewest consumer complaints and fewest oversales, the airline has demonstrated a consistently high level of performance. Since last November, in the baggage delivery category, Independence Air's monthly rate for successfully delivering checked bags has been better than those achieved by the legacy carriers.
This new service promise as described above is designed to increase awareness about Independence Air's commitment to customer satisfaction -- now branded in the company's advertising and promotions under the name Tender Loving Service(SM) -- and to highlight the airline's positive relationship with the over 4,000,000 passengers who have flown Independence Air so far.
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Kerry Skeen said, "We are very proud of the overwhelmingly positive reaction we get every day from customers who say how much they enjoy flying Independence Air, including the thousands of compliments we've received about our enthusiastic employees and our service performance. This new service promise is just another way of demonstrating to customers how strongly we believe in creating a great experience every time you fly with us." He added, "Because our people are so dedicated to providing excellent service every day, we are confident in our ability to make good on a promise to customers that no other airline is offering."
As a way to kick off the new service promise, Independence Air is also introducing a new promotion today called the "Happy Bags(SM) Instant Win Game" that will run for at least the next month. Every checked bag on all Independence Air flights will be tagged with a special game piece. 500 winners will receive a grand prize of a roundtrip flight to any Independence Air destination. All other game pieces will contain a discount coupon for future travel. Full details and limitations of the "Happy Bags Instant Win Game" and the Independence Air baggage delivery service promise can be found at FLYi.com.
