International Pinot Noir Celebration Proceeds to Benefit Oregon Vineyard Workers

MCMINNVILLE, Ore., May 5 /PRNewswire/ — The annual International Pinot Noir Celebration (IPNC) in McMinnville has announced that beginning in 2005 the event’s proceeds will be donated to Salud!, a program that provides healthcare services to Oregon’s seasonal vineyard workers.

Salud! is a cooperative effort between Tuality Healthcare medical professionals and Oregon winemakers that offers health-related outreach services to seasonal workers and their families. These are people who often lack basic care due to cultural disparity, economic factors, and lack of knowledge about medical resources.

“We are very grateful for this generous support from the IPNC,” said Dick Stenson, President and CEO, Tuality Healthcare. “Salud! enjoys tremendous backing from local Pinot Noir producers and enthusiasts through our own annual auction fundraiser. This is a terrific opportunity to expand this support and help even more people.”

Founded in 1992, Salud! employs a bicultural outreach nurse and a health educator to help ensure that families receive quality prenatal care, dental care, basic health education, early-childhood immunizations, guidance with medical bills and paperwork, and more.

The 2005 IPNC will be held Friday through Sunday, July 29 to 31, on the campus of Linfield College. A wine event hailed by The Wine Advocate’s Pierre Rovani as “unquestionably the finest in the world”, the IPNC is a three-day educational festival dedicated to celebrating this elegant, food-friendly variety in the most appropriate way possible: spending a weekend getting to know winemakers and their wines. Without fanfare, corporate sponsorship or hoopla, IPNC succeeds in bringing together winemakers and guests who share a common passion, regardless of politics, global affairs, rivalry, or ego. This year’s event will feature special guests including Screenwriter/Director Alexander Payne and wine-world luminaries Michael Broadbent, Pierre Rovani, Michel Bettane and Andrea Immer. Chefs from Oregon, Washington, California and New Zealand will assemble to create fabulous cuisine for the weekend.
