The Iowa Bed & Breakfast Innkeepers Association (IBBIA) is an independent professional organization celebrating 20 years of providing excellence in hospitality, cleanliness, and safety. Dedicated to providing a memorable experience in special overnight accommodations and attentive service for the traveler. If operating a B&B in Iowa has been your dream, take advantage of this outstanding opportunity to learn from the best.

(PRWEB) January 25, 2006 -- This year’s 20th annual conference for the organization is being held at The Cottage Bakery & Café, 14 Linn St, Iowa City on February 19th & 20th. Attendees will spend two days immersed in the bed and breakfast industry. This informative and inspirational event is a rare chance to learn what it’s really like to run a quality and highly successful bed & breakfast inn.

The public is invited to sign-up and attend the IBBIA Innkeeper’s Boot Camp on Sunday February 19, 2006. Leading Boot Camp will be Jerry Phillips, often referred to as the “Father of Bed and Breakfast,” along with Amelia Painter. As a staff writer for the Bed & Breakfast American magazine, she is nationally known throughout the bed and breakfast industry, and has taken 25 years of marketing experience and dedicated it toward providing Internet marketing, Webmaster and PR services for bed and breakfast inns and associations.

Phillips and his wife Mary have been operating the Old Rittenhouse Inn in Bayfield, Wisconsin since 1974 – they were innkeepers long before the term was attached to B&B operators. Phillips has developed a strong record of research in the area of B&B operation and management. His research is influenced by thirty-two years of hospitality industry experience including three terms as President of Select Registry and later as Director of PAII, the Professional Association of Innkeepers International. His major research focus is on small to medium-sized bed and breakfast operations with a particular interest in training and organizational issues. Recently, his research interest has included the impact of technology on lodging management.

The public is invited to attend and come prepared with their most pressing questions about the operations of a B&B. There is lots of time scheduled for questions and answers and one-on-one discussion. This is a rare chance to learn. Bring your list of questions to Sunday’s Innkeeper Boot Camp and then continue the conversations over lunch and breaks. On Monday soak-in presentations that focus on the veteran innkeeper. Topics covered will include Internet Blogging, Emerging Insurance News, Accepting Room Reservations Online, and much, much more!

Sunday Evening will be a No-Host Mixer at Venuto's Restaurant in Iowa City and the "flavor" is Mediterranean with a belly dancer! The food is delicious and the networking will be superb.

If you think you're ready to experience the romance and luxury of owning your own Bed and Breakfast Inn -- place you can call your home as well as your business – then Innkeeper’s Boot Camp is the place to start. While owning and running your own Bed & Breakfast Inn offers a desirable lifestyle, Innkeeping is a business. And as with any business, success takes work, commitment and education.
