International Superstars Perform at the Three-day Presidente Latin Music Festival in Santo Domingo

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, Oct. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- The Dominican Republic (DR) is known as a mecca for merengue, bachata, reggaeton, salsa and Spanish rock music. Aficionados of these genres will therefore be pleased when the DR's colonial city hosts the annual Presidente Latin Music Festival this October. Held Oct. 14 to 16, the festival will feature performances by international Latin superstars and will showcase Santo Domingo as a rhythmic hot spot combining all aspects of Latin flavor-pulsing beats, mouth-watering cuisine and crowded dance floors.

Sponsored by Presidente Beer, the Presidente Latin Music Festival is in its sixth year and is celebrated at Santo Domingo's Juan Pablo Duarte Stadium. This year, the event will feature top acts including Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez, Julieta Venegas, Diego Torres, David Bisbal, Chayanne, Franco De Vita and Daddy Yankee. Local performers will include Negros, Frank Reyes, Eddy Herrera, Krisspy and a unique combined performance by Sergio Vargas, Los Rosario, Los Toros Band and Rubby Perez.

"The Presidente Latin Music Festival is one of the largest events in the DR to display our unique and colorful range of music," comments Luis Simo, Vice Minister of Tourism. "We are excited about this opportunity to showcase talent that embodies our country's distinctive Latin culture."

For the first time, a limited edition compilation CD entitled, "Best of Presidente Latin Music Festival" will be released by Sony Music/BMG. The CD will be a tribute to the festival as Latin music's best and most significant event.

The three-day event begins at 6 p.m. each night and ticket prices range from US $12 to US $18 per day. Tickets can either be purchased at the venue before each day's performances or at various locations throughout Santo Domingo and Santiago.
