Kaua'i Offers Pristine Golf Courses

'Golf's Ultimate Island Green' Offers 117 Holes Amid Lush Tropical Setting
(Kaua'i, Hawaii) - There are many reasons Travel + Leisure Magazine readers voted Kaua'i the No. 1 island in Hawaii and the No. 2 island worldwide. They include the Garden Isle's balmy beauty, its beaches and its manyoutdoor activities, including some of the world's best golf courses.

The combination of rural beauty and great golf options are increasingly being recognized by travelers worldwide, and its something the Kaua'i Visitors Bureau is helping promote with a new marketing promotion unveiled last week in Honolulu.

"Kaua'i holds a special ambiance that golfers love," said KVB Executive Director Sue Kanoho. "Being immersed in this incredibly beautiful setting is a wonderful escape for them and one they never forget."

Many visitors choose Kaua'i because of its lush, tropical beaches and unspoiled setting - only about 3 percent of the island is developed - as well as its world-famous golf courses.

Several of Kaua'i's golf and resort properties - Princeville Resort, Poipu Bay (affiliated with Grand Hyatt Kaua'i Resort & Spa) and Kaua'i Lagoons (affiliated with Kaua'i Marriott Resort & Beach Club) - in the 117-hole golf-destination cooperative "Kaua'i: Discover Golf's Ultimate Island Green" regularly garner "best-of" distinction from leading national golf and travel publications, including Golf, Golf Digest, Conde Nast Traveler and Travel + Leisure magazines.

Puakea Golf Course, a fourth golf member of the Kaua'icooperative, is increasingly being lauded for its excellence and inspired layout at the base of majestic Mount Haupu.

"Visitors come to Kaua'i for many reasons, not the least of which is our golf and resort properties," says KVB Executive Director Kanoho. "Kaua'i's golf courses are pristine, challenging and they inspire golfers with their unspoiled natural beauty. We hope visitors continue to experience our award-winning golf-and-resort properties and see for themselves the wonderful golf available on our island."
