Kennywood Announces First Annual Celebrate America! Days

Historic amusement park’s red, white and blue salute runs June 30 to July 5

WEST MIFFLIN, Pa., June 28 /PRNewswire/ — Kennywood today announced its first annual Celebrate America! days. The weeklong salute to the red, white, and blue takes place Thursday, June 30 through Tuesday, July 5. Celebrate America! is an evolution of Kennywood’s famous Grand Victorian Festival, first launched in 1994. Favorite elements of the Grand Victorian Festival remain, but with all new excitement.

Every day boasts something special, be it Legend of Heroes (a traveling exhibit saluting America’s World War II veterans), a salute to Elvis, or a performance by a nationally known music group. Throughout the celebration guests can enjoy a plethora of activities and special entertainment with mimes, jugglers, unicyclists, high wheel bikes, specialty and antique cars, magicians, musical entertainment, and lots more including Kennywood’s rides! Evenings begin with Kenny Kangaroo and friends in a parade at 6:00 p.m., and end with fireworks at approximately 9:30 p.m.

Interesting exhibits will be featured, such as a carousel horse carver, ice sculpturing by Ice Creations, a chainsaw sculptor, and Going Home Greyhounds, an organization that helps retired racing greyhounds find a home. Comcast will offer face painting and activities for kids, and the Pittsburgh Children’s Museum will provide arts and crafts for kids. National City Bank will hold a silent auction for Kennywood antique ticket cans with proceeds from the auction benefiting Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank.

Discount coupons for Celebrate America! are available at participating Giant Eagle locations. For more information call 412.461.0500 or visit
