Las Vegas Resorts Celebrate 100 Years of Entertainment and Innovation by Rewarding Guests With “Viva Las Vegas”

More Than 80 Las Vegas Resorts to Give Away a “Viva Las Vegas” iTunes Card at Check-In

LAS VEGAS, NV — (MARKET WIRE) — 05/16/2005 — More than 80 Las Vegas resorts will give their guests reason to sing this month when they are rewarded at check-in with a “Viva Las Vegas” iTunes custom card good for a free download of Elvis Presley’s classic hit from the iTunes Music Store. The “Viva Las Vegas” iTunes promotion began May 13 and will run through Sunday, May 22, at participating resorts while supplies last. The list of participating hotels follows.

“‘Viva Las Vegas’ is the unofficial anthem of Las Vegas,” said Terry Jicinsky, senior vice president of marketing for the LVCVA. “This is the perfect way to carry a little bit of Vegas with you.” The song “Viva Las Vegas” was recorded by Elvis Presley and was the theme to the 1964 movie of the same name starring Presley and Ann-Margret.

The Las Vegas Centennial is a yearlong celebration that will pay tribute to the exciting people, places and events that helped shape Las Vegas history since 110 acres were purchased in railroad land auction a century ago. Hundreds of events are taking place throughout 2005 to commemorate 100 years in neon. Festivities culminated May 14-15 and include the World’s Largest Birthday Cake, weighing in at 130,000 pounds; the Helldorado Days Parade in Downtown Las Vegas; the unveiling of the new VivaVision show “Mr. Lucky” at the Fremont Street Experience, as well as free concerts and other special events.

The celebration continues around the country with the Road to Vegas, a one-of-a-kind Las Vegas-themed concert tour, May 27 through June 29, which will hit: San Francisco, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Houston, Fort Lauderdale, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, New York, Chicago and Atlanta. On June 9, 100 couples will marry in Las Vegas in the “Once Upon 100 Weddings” promotion. The Red Hot Chili Peppers will rock Las Vegas July 2 as the headline act of a free Centennial concert.
