Singapore Tourism Board to Auction Travel Packages on eBay
SINGAPORE, Aug. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Utilizing a marketing strategy that may be a first for a national tourism organization, the Singapore Tourism Board begins auctioning "Luxury Singapore Escape" packages today on eBay. The packages include round-trip air to Singapore on Singapore Airlines from Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco and four nights at The Ritz-Carlton Millenia Singapore, one of the city's elite hotels.
Six Singapore packages, each for two passengers, will be auctioned on eBay over the next three weeks. Valued at $2,128 including government taxes and fees, the minimum bid for each package is just $8.99. Following today, new auctions will begin on Aug. 26, 29 and Sept. 2, 5 and 9.

Additional features to the "Luxury Singapore Escape" package include a half-day city tour, and airport/hotel transfers.
Unsuccessful bidders can still buy the "Luxury Singapore Escape" package at an attractive rate of $899 plus government taxes and fees per person double occupancy (Los Angeles, San Francisco or New York weekday departures) by calling Globotours at 800-988-4833 or visiting http://globotours.net/. The package is available through December 5, 2005 and January 10 -- March 31, 2006 subject to availability, change, holiday/seasonal supplements, blackout dates and other restrictions. Add-on airfare from other domestic cities is available as well as extensions to Tokyo, Bangkok or other Asian destinations.
