Hit the Slopes!! Michigan's First Ski Runs Open Today
LANSING, Mich., Nov. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- It's time to hit the slopes! The first downhill ski runs are open for the season in Michigan! With the arrival of snowmaking temperatures, Ski Brule, located in Iron River in Michigan's western Upper Peninsula, is open ... and free to all skiers today (Friday, November 18, 2005). Various runs will be available at Ski Brule throughout the weekend and snowmaking will continue and additional terrain will open as soon as possible.
"This is a reminder that there is going to be snow on Michigan's slopes even if it isn't in Michigan's backyards," said George Zimmermann, Vice President of Travel Michigan. "Almost all of Michigan ski areas make snow when temperatures allow so that Michigan's ski resorts may open prior to the industry target day." Thanksgiving weekend is the traditional target opening day for most northern Michigan ski areas and resorts.
