America's WWII Museum in Vanguard of Renewing New Orleans Tourism

NEW ORLEANS, Nov. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- The National D-Day Museum, one of New Orleans' top tourist attractions, has announced that the Museum will reopen for visitors on Saturday, December 3. The institution, which has been designated by Congress as America's National World War II Museum, has been closed to the public since Hurricane Katrina.

Museum President and CEO Dr. Gordon H. "Nick" Mueller affirmed that the National D-Day Museum will be in the vanguard of the city's recovery and the rebuilding of its tourism industry. "We are committed to the future of New Orleans," Mueller said. Economic Research Associates, a noted national firm, has identified the National D-Day Museum and its expansion as potential key components of a highly marketable product for New Orleans tourism.

The National D-Day Museum will offer free admission on opening day, and it will be open Tuesday through Saturday. Hours on Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday are 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Thursday and Friday hours are 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. Louisiana residents will receive special discounts, and admission is always free for men and women in uniform. Special exhibits, programs and events are being scheduled for the months ahead.

On Friday, during a special Veterans Day salute outside of the Museum, Mueller honored World War II veterans "and all veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice for their nation, serving in war and peace to defend our freedom, our democracy and our country." He added a special salute to the troops who secured New Orleans and are helping the city on its road to recovery.

The National D-Day Museum is located at 945 Magazine Street at Andrew Higgins Blvd. in the New Orleans Warehouse Arts District. For more information about visiting, call The National D-Day Museum at 504-527-6012, or visit online at http://www.ddaymuseum.org/ .
