August 2 (Reston, VA) In a high tech world where an internet search for “wildlife tours” can yield over 888,000 results, the National Wildlife Federation (NWF) offers a valuable and unique travel service. After reviewing hundreds of itineraries to nearly every major wildlife-viewing spot on the globe, NWF has selected the best trips for our 2007 Expeditions Travel Program. Each trip selected emphasizes the unique wildlife of the area, and all tours include a strong educational component. The offerings for 2007—34 in all—range from wolf watching in Yellowstone to assisting whale researchers in Quebec to delving into the jungles of Borneo in search of unique fauna and flora.

Limited to just 15 participants, travelers explore all facets of these fascinating creatures—their behavior, their quest for survival, and what lies in their future. The group travels daily into the Lamar Valley of Yellowstone, the area where wolves, grizzly bears, elk and bison all interact in one habitat. The tour costs $1,795 per person based on double occupancy.

Looking for something more far a field? How about the New Years Safari to Botswana where you’ll spend New Years Eve in Chobe National Park, ringing in 2008 with Africa’s largest elephant herd. The trip to Greenland has you sailing in a dramatic landscape of fjords and calving icebergs where you’ll explore the domain of polar bears, walruses, puffin, and musk oxen. Go down under on the Expedition to Australia where you will visit the Great Barrier Reef, Kangaroo Island, Tasmania, and the Daintree Rainforest to learn about kangaroos, wallabies, possums, koalas, platypus and even the rare Cape Barren goose.

Expedition participants enjoy the intimacy and security of traveling in small groups, with most tours are limited to 15-20 participants in order to maximize wildlife-viewing opportunities.
