Nikko Hotels International Expands Properties in China
Hotel Oriental Palace Dalian and Hotel Nikko Tianjin to join Nikko chain
TOKYO, April 12 /PRNewswire/ -- JAL Hotels Co., Ltd., operator of the Nikko Hotels International group of luxury international hotels, continues to expand in the booming Chinese market with the addition of Dalian and Tianjin hotels.
"China is one of the most important markets for our group," states Mr. Shosuke Machida, President of JAL Hotels Co., Ltd. "Our first priorities as target locations for growth in China are the 13 cities where Japan Airlines, our parent company, has air routes, including both Dalian and Tianjin."
Currently operated as the "Hilton Dalian", the Dalian property will be re- opened and managed by Nikko Hotels as "Hotel Oriental Palace Dalian" on April 20, 2005.
Located at the center of Dalian, Hotel Oriental Palace Dalian was built in 2000 and is situated in a city landmark complex that consists of office and residential towers as well as a shopping mall. The five-star hotel has 372 guest rooms. Its facilities include multiple banquet and dining rooms, a business center and a health club.
Dalian, located at the southern tip of Liaoning Peninsula, has a population of 5.9 million and is a major international port city in the northeastern part of China.
Construction on the Tianjin property, "Hotel Nikko Tianjin," is expected to be completed by the end of March 2007. The hotel is scheduled to open in early July of that year.
Hotel Nikko Tianjin will be a five-star hotel with 373 guest rooms and luxury facilities such as restaurants, a bar, a banquet hall, meeting rooms, an indoor pool, a spa & fitness room, and a business center. The hotel will be built as part of a commercial complex, "The Exchange," on Tianjin's main boulevard, Nanjing Avenue.
Tianjin, with a population of 10 million, is one of the four municipalities directly under the Central Government in China, along with Beijing, Shanghai and Chongqing. A number of foreign corporations have established offices in the city center as well as in the Tianjin Economic and Technological Development Area. Tianjin has been rapidly growing, especially in the industrial, commercial and trade sectors, and is the biggest port city and most important trade center in northern China. The city will be the venue for football (soccer) for the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
The addition of these two properties makes a total of five hotels in China for Nikko Hotels International after Jinglun Hotel and Hotel Nikko New Century Beijing in Beijing; and Hotel Nikko Hong Kong in Hong Kong.
