Northwest Matches United Frequent Flyer Mileage Bonus Offer
WorldPerks members earn double miles and double 'Elite' qualifying miles
EAGAN, Minn., Aug. 31 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Northwest Airlines (NASDAQ:NWAC) today announced that it has fully matched a United Airlines offer that awards travelers with double the normal amount of miles accrued for flights and double the normal amount of miles that are counted toward achieving "Elite" status in Northwest's WorldPerks frequent flyer program.
"While our customers continue to book Northwest with confidence, it is critical that we fully compete for every customer on price, product, schedule and frequent flyer program offers," said Tim Griffin, executive vice president of marketing and distribution. "This offer allows members of our WorldPerks program to earn travel awards even faster, as well as enjoy the many benefits experienced by members who achieve 'Elite' status."
U.S. and Canada-based members of WorldPerks traveling on Northwest, Northwest Airlink or KLM-operated flights between today and October 9, 2005, will accrue double the amount of miles they normally would, as well as earn double the amount of miles counted toward reaching Elite status. A complete list of terms and conditions, and required advance registration, can be done through the airline's Web site at http://www.nwa.com/offers/dbleqm05/.
Northwest's WorldPerks program rewards its most frequent customers for their loyalty by granting them Elite status. After flying 25,000 miles or 30 qualifying segments in a calendar year, travelers earn Silver Elite status. Gold Elite is earned after flying 50,000 miles per year or 60 qualifying segments. After flying 75,000 miles in a calendar year or 100 segments, customers earn the coveted Platinum Elite status.
All Elite status members enjoy an array of benefits including unlimited, complimentary, space-available upgrades to first class, early flight boarding, an exclusive toll-free reservations line, special assigned aircraft seating and discounted memberships in Northwest's WorldClubs airport lounge program. Additional benefits are extended to Gold Elite and Platinum Elite members. Northwest Airlines is the world's fourth largest airline with hubs at Detroit, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Memphis, Tokyo and Amsterdam, and approximately 1,400 daily departures. Northwest is a member of SkyTeam, an airline alliance that offers customers one of the world's most extensive global networks.
