palmOne Adds Third Retail Store at Boston Airport
40,000 Travelers Per Day Now Have Convenient Resource for Expert Advice on Mobile-computing Devices
MILPITAS, Calif., June 28 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- palmOne, Inc. (NASDAQ:PLMO) today announced the expansion of its retail presence at the Boston Logan International Airport. The new store in Terminal B, which opened this week, is one of 10 locations in airports nationwide -- and the third location at Logan -- where dedicated palmOne(TM) stores serve busy travelers. Approximately 40,000 Boston Logan travelers now have access to the palmOne retail stores -- including at existing locations in Terminals A and C -- each day, where they can conveniently shop for and learn about the company's popular mobile-computing products and accessories.
"palmOne is a great retail partner and provides terrific service to the traveling public," said Logan Airport General Manager Jack Hemphill. "The company's decision to open a third retail store at the airport is good news for our customers who travel through Terminal B, as well as our tenants and employees located there."
Airport stores have proven to be a successful sales strategy. palmOne opened its first airport store more than a year ago, and today has stores in some of the nation's busiest airports, including Atlanta, Newark, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Washington National. Airport locations are instrumental in reaching palmOne's mobile professional market. At Boston Logan, approximately 50 percent of the more than 26 million travelers who pass through the airport each year are business travelers.(1)
"We're making it easier for our customers to buy products by reaching them where they are," said Kanwal Sharma, director of palmOne Retail Stores. "It's easy to shop for the Treo(TM) 650 smartphone, the new LifeDrive(TM) mobile manager, the Tungsten(TM) E2 handheld and accessories when you have uninterrupted time with an expert."
The award-winning palmOne Retail Stores help customers by doing the following:
-- providing products and services in an inviting environment that is convenient for mobile professionals;
-- educating them so they can more easily choose from among the company's complete lineup of mobile-computing devices and accessories; and
-- building their understanding of the company's ability to help them improve productivity, access and share valuable information, and enjoy life.
Retail Partners Benefit
palmOne stores also benefit sales in other retail outlets -- more than 31 percent of shoppers who stop at the palmOne Retail Stores purchase from other retail partners. Including the new Boston Logan store, there are now 14 palmOne Retail Stores conveniently located in malls and airports nationwide that carry the full line of palmOne products and accessories.
The new Boston airport store in Terminal B (US Airways) is open from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days a week. In addition to the three Boston Logan airport stores, Boston professionals also can drop into the palmOne Retail Store in the Prudential Center.
