HARRISBURG, Pa., June 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Real people will be Road Tripping across Pennsylvania this summer, sharing their adventures through Web logs (or blogs), digital photography and video on the Pennsylvania Tourism Office's Web site, VisitPA.com. Pennsylvania is the first state to use blogs as a direct- to-consumer tourism-marketing tactic. The first blogs will be posted June 1.

"Travelers are looking for authentic experiences, so we found travel consumers with a wide range of interests who will share their experiences traveling through Pennsylvania this summer," said Mickey Rowley, Deputy Secretary of Tourism in the Department of Community and Economic Development. "We hope to reach travelers through other consumers who share the same interests."

The six areas of interest that the VisitPA.com Road Trippers will be exploring are:

-- Culture Vultures: Two girlfriends will embark on a getaway exploring
culture, fashion and relaxing at the hippest spas and nightspots in
Pennsylvania including shopping in New Hope, the spa at Nemacolin and
Pittsburgh's nightlife.

-- History Buff: Will visit battlefields, walk in the footsteps of
historic figures, and follow the trails blazed by Pennsylvania's
ancestors through visits to places such as Gettysburg, Fort Pitt and
Valley Forge.

-- Thrill-Seeking Family: Will travel the state in search of theme park
and other great adventures, the country's best ice cream, cotton
candy, and funnel cakes including trips to Dorney Park, Erie's Presque
Isle beaches, Allegheny National Forest and the Crayola Factory.

-- Hipster Roadtrippers: One urban couple will experience culture shock
through milking cows in Amish country, experiencing a major NASCAR
event, and then return to city living in Philadelphia's hippest
scenes.

-- Outdoor Adventurer: Will pack gear and be ready to bike, hike and
kayak the trails, mountains and rivers of Pennsylvania including the
city trails around Philadelphia and the vast outdoor opportunities in
the Pennsylvania Wilds and the Laurel Highlands.

-- Open Roader: A motorcycle enthusiast will don leather clothes and hop
aboard a Softail Custom Harley-Davidson to view some of Pennsylvania's
most scenic drives like Route 30, stopping at the Harley-Davidson
factory, of course.

The Road Trippers will customize their trips and change their itineraries (as needed - promoting a sense of discovery) as they encounter new and interesting attractions along the way. The blog campaign reflects the Pennsylvania Tourism Office's "Ready, Set, Go" branding, which focuses on fun and spontaneity, an adventure waiting around the corner, and the idea that the journey is as fun as the destination.

Blogging has become one of the most popular forms of online communications providing an ideal outlet to have a direct and unfiltered conversation with audiences that have similar interests.
