Philadelphia Comes Up Smelling Roses With New US Airways Service to Portland, Ore.

TEMPE, Ariz., March 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- US Airways (NYSE:LCC) announces the start of new service beginning on June 1 from its Philadelphia hub to Portland, Ore. This new service gives US Airways nearly 450 daily flights to 115 non-stop destinations from Philadelphia, which also serves as the airline's international gateway with service to 16 destinations in Europe and 19 in the Caribbean and Latin America.

"The revenue and scheduling synergies realized from our recent merger allow us to easily add service between the former West Coast and East Coast route networks, ultimately benefiting customers across the United States," remarked US Airways Executive Vice President Sales and Marketing Scott Kirby. "Customers in Portland will enjoy service into our Philadelphia hub, which provides extensive East Coast and international connectivity. Conversely, our long-time and loyal Philadelphia passengers will have nonstop access to another destination on the West Coast."

US Airways will provide the service (operated by America West) with the Airbus A320 aircraft, which has capacity for 150 passengers (12 first class and 138 coach class).

US Airways and America West's recent merger creates the fifth largest domestic airline employing 35,000 aviation professionals. US Airways, US Airways Shuttle and US Airways Express operate approximately 3,700 flights per day and serve more than 230 communities in the U.S., Canada, Europe, the Caribbean and Latin America.
