The Pike in Long Beach Becomes First West Coast Location of The Mai Tai Bar

San Clemente-Based Company Sees Long Beach Revitalization as Key Site for Resort-Style Night Spot

LONG BEACH, Calif., July 8 /PRNewswire/ — The Pike district has become the first West Coast home of a tropical sensation: the third location of The Mai Tai Bar. With existing establishments in Oahu, Hawaii and Daytona Beach, Florida, San Clemente-based Mai Tai Bar believes Long Beach’s booming growth and increasing reputation for hot nightspots will be the key to success for its first California location.

To introduce this island-inspired bar and restaurant to local crowds from Orange and Los Angeles Counties, a VIP party complete with red carpet arrival for its invitation-only guests will kick off at 7 p.m. on July 8. Well-known celebrities, local sports stars and dignitaries who are planning to attend include Efren Ramirez (Napoleon Dynamite), Kerri Kasem, Michael Tarshi (The Apprentice 3), Amy McCarthy (Playboy), Malcolm Cameron (Coach, Long Beach Ice Dogs), Ron Lester, Mary Carey, Mercedes Mercado, Crystle Lightning (American Pie 4), Omar Gooding (ESPN’s “Playmakers”), and Farnsworth Bentley (Fat Albert), among others.

“We’re so pleased to bring The Mai Tai Bar to California, and especially to Long Beach’s Pike,” said Scott Barnett, president and CEO for The Mai Tai Bar. “The location, just steps away from the waterfront, is perfect for our tropical environment, and there’s no faster-growing entertainment hub in Southern California than the new Pike district. It’s the ideal component to our overall growth strategy,” said Barnett.

For The Mai Tai Bar’s southland debut, proceeds from 50 percent of sales on July 9 will be donated to Music for a Cure, a Newport Beach-based nonprofit organization founded by Sugar Ray band member Murphy Karges. The goal of Music for a Cure is to bring music to critically ill children and children with financial needs.

“Music for a Cure is a relatively new organization, and the financial support offered by The Mai Tai Bar will help us reach out to so many more kids affected by a serious health situation,” said Murphy Karges, bass player for Sugar Ray. “We are so excited to be a part of the ‘world famous’ Mai Tai Bar and honored to have been invited to participate in their opening events.”

In addition to offering tropical fare, The Mai Tai Bar is a trendsetting, tastefully chic spot showcasing the most exciting nightly live music in town. From sipping on famous icy Mai Tais and enjoying one of the many delicious appetizers or sandwiches, The Mai Tai Bar has become a hotspot in Hawaii and Florida. In 2005, it was awarded “Top Bar” by Honolulu Magazine. The Mai Tai Bar is opened from 11:30 AM to 1AM daily with Happy Hour starting at 8PM thru 11PM. Locals can enjoy live music twice a day, every day.
