Prince William County, Virginia Set To Welcome 20,000+ Visitors for PGA Tour Presidents Cup Tournament

MANASSAS, Va., Sept. 8 /PRNewswire/ — Prince William County, Virginia ( will welcome President George W. Bush, the world’s finest golfers, and more than 20,000 visitors as the PGA TOUR Presidents Cup tournament returns to the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club, September 20-25, 2005.

The tournament will match top U.S. golfers against an International team of players from around the world. President Bush is the honorary chairman of the event, and is expected to attend the opening ceremonies on September 22.

To welcome dignitaries, players, and spectators, the Prince William County/Manassas Convention & Visitors Bureau will offer special area maps and visitor information at Information Stations on-site at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club. Information will also be provided at the Prince William County Tourist Information Center on Mill Street in Occoquan.

Legendary golfers have battled for the prestigious Presidents Cup in Prince William County three times previously — in 1994, 1996, and 2000. During the 2003 Presidents Cup in George, South Africa, team captains agreed to share the Cup after the matches resulted in a tie.

Prince William County is renowned as one of the hottest new golf destinations in the South for its 12 pristine daily-fee golf courses.
