Princess Introduces New Overland Shore Excursion Options in Asia and Australia
Wonders of Angkor Wat and Australia's Kakadu National Park Highlight New Extended Tour Choices
SANTA CLARITA, Calif. (November 13, 2006) - Princess passengers headed to Asia and Australia have a unique new opportunity to venture beyond their ship's ports of call and travel inland to some of the world's most impressive wonders. Two new overland shore excursions debut for the fall season featuring "must see" attractions - Cambodia's famed Angkor Wat, and northern Australia's stunning Kakadu National Park - both of which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
The new multi-day tour options are available to passengers aboard Sapphire Princess' Asia and Australia/Asia cruises. Overland shore excursions give passengers the opportunity to spend several days ashore during a cruise and experience more of the area of the world in which they are traveling. The shore excursion options, which are designed to flow seamlessly with the ship's itinerary, allow passengers to easily explore some of the world's most dramatic wonders by leaving the ship in one port and rejoining in another. Packages include hotel stays, meals and transportation.
The new excursions debuting this season are:
Grand Overland: Cambodia's Angkor Wat & Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh City - A three-day journey between Singapore and Ho Chi Minh City (alternate itinerary patterns also available from Bangkok) featuring a flight to Cambodia to visit that country's legendary Angkor Wat. This famous temple complex dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu was abandoned by the Khmer civilization in 1431 and was lost to the world until it was rediscovered in 1860 when a botanist stumbled upon it deep in the jungle. After years of civil war, Angkor Wat - one of the world's most important archaeological sites - is once again open to travelers. Other tour highlights include a stay in Singapore and a day in Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh City. This tour is available to passengers on Sapphire Princess' Southeast Asia and China itineraries.
Top End Overland Adventure: National Parks of Northern Australia - A four-day excursion from Darwin that rejoins the ship in Cairns, this adventure focuses on the majestic Kakadu National Park, featuring extensive wetlands, diverse wildlife and the largest number of accessible Aboriginal sites in Australia. The deep Katherine River Gorge carved through ancient sandstone in Nitmuluk National Park, as well as the towns of Darwin and Cairns are also featured. The tour is available on Sapphire Princess' Asia/Australia itinerary.

Princess now offers a total of 16 overland tour options around the world, featuring some of the globe's most sought-after destinations. In addition to Angkor Wat and Kakadu National Park, Princess overland tours can take passengers to such famed worldwide attractions such as Machu Picchu, the Taj Mahal, the Pyramids of Egypt, New Zealand's Mt. Cook, Hanoi, and an African safari.
Overland shore excursions include flights, accommodations, transfers, admission to attractions and meals as stated. Costs vary depending on the destination and tour, beginning at $569 per person.
