Remington and Ashford Hospitality Trust Team With Fallen Heroes Fund for Second Round of Texas Hold ‘Em Charity Fundraiser

175 Hotel Industry Participants Raised $14,500 at NYU Lodging Conference

Phil Gordon of “Celebrity Poker Showdown” Returned as Host

DALLAS, June 28 /PRNewswire/ — Remington Hotel Corporation, the premier service provider to the hospitality industry(TM), announced that $14,500 was raised for the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund at its second Texas Hold ‘Em charity poker event. Held on June 6 at the NYU Lodging Industry Investment Conference in New York, the Remington and Ashford Hospitality Trust co-hosted event brought together 175 of the hotel industry’s elite for a night of high stakes poker and entertainment.

Phil Gordon, host of the Bravo! Channel’s “Celebrity Poker Showdown,” returned for a reprise of his trademark commentary and advice to the newest class of poker enthusiasts and wannabe’s. One of only two four-time winners on the World Poker Tour, Gordon is the author of the number one selling poker book of all time, “Poker: the Real Deal,” and ESPN.com poker columnist.

The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund previously provided unrestricted grants to the families of those who were lost in Iraq and Afghanistan. Through the generosity of its contributors, that support exceeded $14 million. New legislation has significantly increased the death gratuity and life insurance support to these families. The Fund is now exploring ways to help the severely wounded and their families, as they are now in more critical need of our nation’s support. To date more than 15,000 service personnel have been wounded. One hundred percent of contributions from the public for this effort go to support military families; no administrative costs are deducted.

“The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund continues to have a tremendous impact on military service personnel and their families, and we are pleased to support their new efforts in supporting the catastrophically disabled men and women serving in Iraq and Afghanistan,” noted Mark Sharkey, Chief Operating Officer of Remington Hotel Corporation. “Based on the tremendous industry response to our first Texas Hold ‘Em event in January at the America’s Lodging Investment Summit (ALIS), the 175 available slots for our latest event filled up within weeks of publishing the date. A worthy cause, fabulous entertainment by our host, Phil Gordon, industry networking and competition made it a night to remember. We look forward to continuing this new tradition at other lodging events during the year.”
