Rockefeller Center Ice Rink Celebrates its 70th Anniversary

The Rink Commemorates Milestone with Skate-A-Date Package

NEW YORK, NY: October, 2006 –The Rink at Rockefeller Center has opened its ice to the public for the 70th year in a row. A landmark recognized throughout the world and providing New Yorkers and travelers alike with joyous memories throughout the years, The Rink will mark its platinum anniversary by partnering with the Rock Center Café to offer an exclusive Skate-A-Date package.

“We are proud to be celebrating a tradition that has spanned generations and lasted throughout the decades,” said Nick Valenti, CEO of RA/Patina, which operates the Rink and Rock Center Café. “This 70th anniversary is only the beginning of great things to come.”

The Rink first opened on Christmas Day in 1936 as the premier artificial outdoor skating pond built in New York City, complete with modern amenities: night skating, a heated house for changing skates, piped-in music and rink-side dining. Over the past 70 years, The Rink has become one of the most visited sights in NYC—and even the world! Over 130,000 skaters graced the ice last year, and The Rink expects even more this season!

Perfect for families or lovebirds, the Skate-A-Date package will present rink-goers with a delicious two-course dinner for two from the popular Rock Center Café, as well as VIP skating on The Rink—which allows guests to skip the lengthy lines and provides them with complimentary skate rental.

In honor of the 70th anniversary, the Skate-A-Date package can be reserved for the special price of $70 plus tax and tip from October 19th through November 12th and from January 10th through early April.

The Rink at Rockefeller Center is located on 5th Avenue between 49th and 50th Streets. For more information, please visit www.rapatina.com/iceRink.
