Celebrate the Holiday Season With a Spectacular Lighting Display Along Rodeo Drive

Baccarat chandeliers and UNICEF Crystal Snowflake to be lighted during a special ceremony with an exclusive performance by Cirque du Soleil(R)

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Nov. 13 /PRNewswire/ — Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills will sparkle bright this holiday season thanks to crystal maker Baccarat. The 242 year-old celebrated French luxury brand is lining the median of the famed shopping street with twenty breathtaking Baccarat crystal chandeliers. The chandelier display, with a total estimated value of $1 Million, will illuminate the 200, 300 and 400 blocks of Rodeo Drive during the busy holiday shopping season.

Joining this spectacular chandelier display for the second year in a row is the UNICEF Crystal Snowflake, which will hang atop the Beverly Wilshire, A Four Seasons Hotel. The 16-foot snowflake, designed by Ingo Maurer with 12,000 Baccarat crystals, made its debut in New York City in 2004, where it was suspended throughout the holidays at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and 57th Street. This magnificent structure replaces the “Tree of Lights,” which for so many years adorned the front of the Beverly Wilshire and will serve as a beacon of hope, peace and compassion for vulnerable children around the world.

A very special lighting ceremony, open to the public, is scheduled for Saturday, November 18 at 6:30 pm to “flip the switch” that will light up Rodeo Drive for the holidays. The lighting ceremony, which will take place on the 200 block of Rodeo Drive near the intersection of Wilshire Boulevard and Rodeo, will kick off the holiday season with surprise celebrity appearances and an exclusive performance by Cirque du Soleil(R).

“We are all very excited to light up Rodeo Drive this coming holiday season and to have been invited back by the City of Beverly Hills to the kick-off the festivities with a bang”, said Jaime E. Jimenez, Director of Public Relations and Special Events for Baccarat in North America, “this being our third year producing the event we wanted to make it bigger and better, and the brilliant performance Cirque du Soleil(R) has planned for the occasion is certain to achieve this goal, it will mesmerize the audience”.

The lighting ceremony, produced entirely by Baccarat, is sponsored by the City of Beverly Hills, the Beverly Hills Chamber of Commerce, the Beverly Hills Conference and Visitors Bureau, the Rodeo Drive Committee, Two Rodeo and the Beverly Wilshire, A Four Seasons Hotel. The chandelier and snowflake display will continue to sparkle nightly through January 1, 2007.

The lighting ceremony on Rodeo Drive will coincide with the UNICEF Snowflake lighting ceremony in New York City on Saturday, November 18 at the intersection of 57th Street and Fifth Avenue. The UNICEF Snowflake, designed by Ingo Maurer with 16,000 Baccarat crystal prisms, will be illuminated by UNICEF Ambassador Clay Aiken to kick off the holiday season.
