WASHINGTON, Aug. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- RoomRate.com, a national online hotel reservation service, is offering a rebate of 20 cents per gallon on gasoline costs during the upcoming Labor Day weekend. Customers who book a two-night minimum stay at any hotel in the U.S. for arrivals during the period of September 1-6, 2005 are eligible for the rebate when they book at http://www.roomrate.com.

"Gasoline prices have risen dramatically in the past few weeks, so we thought this offer would appeal to a lot of families," said Thom Hall, President of RoomRate.com. "Our goal is to save them money on their hotel room -- and gas prices -- during the Labor Day weekend."

The RoomRate.com hotel program allows customers to compare rates anywhere in the U.S. and get the best available hotel rates. Unlike other companies, such as Expedia and Hotels.com, Roomrate.com does not charge the customer's credit card in advance, Hall said. Customers reserve the discounted rates through http://www.roomrate.com and pay directly to the hotel. It also allows customers to search for hotels anywhere in the country, not just large cities.

Roomrate.com has been in operation in the Washington, D.C. area for over 20 years under the name Capitol Reservations, but recently expanded its operations throughout the country.

Under the gasoline rebate program, a guest must use http://www.roomrate.com to book a minimum two-night stay at any U.S. hotel. Once they complete and pay for the trip, the guest must send copies of their hotel and gas receipts, and RoomRate.com will reimburse the guest 20 cents per gallon up to the first 50 gallons of purchased gasoline.

Hall said the new gasoline rebate promotion has already generated a tremendous response. "The program has dramatically increased our traffic and bookings," Hall said. "We understand that people are frustrated with the higher costs of gasoline. The Labor Day rebate campaign is a way to thank our loyal customers, and they seem to appreciate it."
