Sacramento, CA (PRWEB) November 1, 2006 -- Hostelling International's Sacramento hostel is joining up with the local Convention and Visitor's Bureau to offer the Sacramento Gold Card to all of its guests free of charge. The Gold Card provides visitors with discounts at dozens of attractions, restaurants, and retail stores throughout the region. In line with Hostelling International's commitment to providing low-cost or free amenities and activities, when guests ask for the complimentary Gold Card upon check-in they will not only save money, they will also open the door to more of the sights, tastes, and experiences the Sacramento area has to offer.

The Gold Card offers discount opportunities that appeal to all types of travelers. Buy-one, get-one-free tickets are available for a number of museums, including the California State Railroad Museum and Crocker Art Museum, as well as family-oriented attractions like Fairytale Town and the Esquire IMAX Theatre. Shopping sprees will be much easier to justify with coupon and incentive books available at both Arden Fair Mall and Westfield Downtown Plaza. Foodies will be lured by free appetizers or discounts to restaurants like the Pyramid Ale House and Brewery and California Fats Asia Grill and Dim Sum Bar. Thus, for example, a visiting couple could enjoy a movie at the IMAX and dinner at the Pyramid Ale House and save $23--the cost of an overnight at the hostel!

"Sacramento has so much to offer its visitors. If you like outdoor recreation, we've got it. If you like theatre, the arts, history, food--we've got all that too! You could stay a whole week and still not take advantage of all the discounts offered by the Gold Card," says Casey Maloney, front office supervisor at HI-Sacramento.

Located on Merchant's Row in the heart of the state capital, the Sacramento Hostel is housed in a restored 1885 Victorian mansion featuring bay windows, a wraparound porch, hand-carved wooden staircases, and elegant marble fireplaces. Both shared and private accommodations are available, and the hostel is within short walking distance to the bus and train depot, the State Capitol, Old Town Sacramento, and the bars and restaurants that line K Street. The Sacramento Hostel is owned and operated by the Golden Gate Council of Hostelling International USA, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting intercultural understanding, environmental stewardship, and world peace through travel.
