Guaranteed Parking Available at Mineta San Jose International Airport This Memorial Day Weekend

New One Hour Express Parking offers convenient access to terminals

SAN JOSE, Calif., May 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport (SJC) guarantees that everyone who parks at the Airport over the Memorial Day holiday weekend is assured a space either in the Long- term lot on Martin Avenue or in the Short-term lots directly across from the terminals.

In addition, new One Hour Express Parking in the Short-term parking lot across from Terminal C and in the garage across from Terminal A is opening this holiday weekend. This new program dedicates 120 parking spaces that are clearly marked and are close to baggage claim and ticket counters at both terminals. Customers will be able to park and to meet their party at baggage claim or to assist them with checking-in for a flight. Prices for Short-term parking are $1.00 per each 20 minutes.

Since last Memorial Day weekend, travelers will experience a convenient new entrance to the Airport from Route 87 to Skyport Drive with the direct connection from Skyport Drive to Airport Boulevard.

"With guaranteed parking and easier access to the Airport, combined with our recent air service additions, the Airport continues to respond to our customers' needs," said Bill Sherry, Director of Aviation. "These new improvements reflect the excellent advantages that our Airport provides to our customers."

Airport officials remind travelers to consider the following important travel tips before they arrive at SJC:

-- All passengers must present a boarding pass or other airline-approved
document at the security checkpoint.
-- A government-issued photo ID is required of all passengers 18 years or
older.
-- Travelers should arrive at least 90 minutes prior to departure for
domestic flights and two hours for international flights.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) recently added fuel- filled lighters to its list of prohibited items and will dispose of these hazardous items if found in carry-on and checked baggage. Travelers can visit http://www.tsa.gov for a more comprehensive list of prohibited items and for additional helpful information to prepare for travel over the Memorial Day weekend and the busy summer season ahead.

During this Memorial Day weekend, the traditional start of the summer travel season, Airport officials expect approximately 184,000 passengers to travel through SJC over the six-day travel period that runs May 26 through May 31. The Airport is preparing for a daily average of 30,000 travelers with Friday, May 27 projected to be the busiest day with over 34,000 travelers.

Mineta San Jose International Airport (SJC), a self-supporting enterprise, is owned and operated by the City of San Jose. SJC served 11.1 million passengers and handled approximately 240 million pounds of air cargo in 2004. SJC has 178 flights a day on 13 domestic and international carriers to 28 nonstop destinations.
