NEW YORK, Aug. 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Six Flags Inc. (NYSE:PKS) said today that the Kingda Ka roller coaster, the world's tallest and fastest, has been repaired, tested and certified by state inspectors and is reopening today at its Six Flags Great Adventure theme park in Jackson, N.J. The ride was shut down June 8 after a malfunction during a routine test run. No passengers were aboard at the time and no injuries occurred. The company said it had identified the problem that caused the malfunction and, working with the manufacturer of the ride, has made adjustments to prevent its recurrence.

The company said attendance at the park since the shutdown had been modestly ahead of 2004 performance and that it anticipates that the coaster's return to service with so much of the season left will likely boost the park's final attendance totals for 2005.

"There has been tremendous interest among our visitors in our progress with Kingda Ka and when it would return," said Kieran Burke, chairman and CEO of Six Flags. "We are very grateful to Intamin, the ride's manufacturer, who has worked closely with us to address the malfunction and to ensure that it cannot occur again."

The company said it plans a significant advertising campaign throughout the markets Six Flags Great Adventure serves to alert potential guests that the world-record-setting coaster is up and running again.

"Coaster fans everywhere have been waiting for the return of Kingda Ka, and we very are glad to have Kingda Ka back on line," Mr. Burke said. "It's a fantastic attraction and we are confident the public will respond eagerly to the opportunity to come out and enjoy this one-of-a-kind experience, as well as our many other activities and attractions at Six Flags Great Adventure."
