Flagship Theme Park Celebrates 45th Anniversary Season With 10 New Rides, Plus Parades, Characters, Festivals, Concerts and More!

ARLINGTON, Texas, March 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Six Flags Over Texas is throwing a birthday party ... a gigantic, year-long, over-the-top, Texas-sized kind of party ... and everyone's invited! In 2006, the world's first regional theme park is celebrating its 45th anniversary season and it's going to be a season like no other! There'll be more reasons than ever before to visit the park with more things to see and more things to do.

"This promises to be a phenomenal year for the park and our Guests," said Steve Calloway, vice president and general manager of Six Flags Over Texas. "We are literally pulling out all the stops to ensure that every visitor who walks through our gates has the best time imaginable. Every single day we will be focused on bringing our Guests a total entertainment package that they won't find anywhere else, and in addition to our amazing array of rides and attractions, we're making a big investment in -- and commitment to -- improving the Guest experience by providing a better park environment."

For starters, Six Flags Over Texas is adding 10 new rides ... the largest single expansion in park history. The new attractions will be located throughout the park, giving families more ride choices. The addition of these 10 great attractions will increase the park's ride capacity by a whopping 25 percent!

Guests will also see more of their favorite Looney Tunes characters in the park ... every day, all day! From park opening to park closing, Bugs Bunny, Tweety, Sylvester and many of their friends will be out in full force, meeting and greeting guests, posing for pictures and interacting with moms, dads and, of course, kids! Also this year for the first time, Six Flags Over Texas is also excited to welcome to our family some of the most popular superheroes from the Justice League, including Batman and Robin, Green Lantern, Flash and Wonder Woman!

We did say this was a celebration year, right? Well, a celebration of this magnitude calls for a parade! But we're not just throwing one parade -- it's our 45th anniversary so we're celebrating with a nightly parade featuring our Justice League and Looney Tunes characters, park performers and other fun surprises!

But wait ... there's even more in store: a brand new festival coming to the park in 2006! Festival Latino, taking place June 3-11, will pay tribute to the rich heritage, pageantry and pride of the Latino community. There'll be specialty foods, live entertainment, and even a Charro demonstration.

Speaking of festivals, mark your calendars for The Best of Texas Festival, weekends in September. Back by popular demand, this festival features the people, places and things unique to the Lone Star State!

When we say World Class Entertainment(TM), we mean it! This summer the park will be unveiling an all new show in the newly remodeled Majestic Theatre. The cast of "It's Alright" will light up the night on the USA stage with the groovin' sounds of Motown. Having played to standing room only crowds in 2005, The Amazing Acrobats of China are returning to the David Blackburn Southern Palace Theatre with new, even more amazing feats of artistry and athleticism. Master puppeteer Kathy Burks is also back with her cast of delightful characters to set up residency at the Lone Star Theatre. These shows, together with all of the other performances at Six Flags Over Texas, add up to more than 20 hours of in-park entertainment and it's on every stage and around every corner every single day.
