ST. GEORGE, Utah, Nov. 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SkyWest Airlines, a wholly-owned subsidiary of SkyWest, Inc. (NASDAQ:SKYW) wishes travelers everywhere a safe and joyous holiday season.

James Boyd, SkyWest Airlines vice president of customer service said, "The holidays hold fond memories for each of us, but they can turn stressful when you least expect it. With Thanksgiving upon us, we offer a few suggestions for travelers as they journey to be with loved ones."

Use Grandma's turkey carving tools. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) will confiscate any number of sharp objects in your carry-on luggage. This includes knives of any length, any cutting instrument including retractable blades, box cutters regardless of length or composition and straight razors. There's no place like home for the holidays, and everyone feels the same way. Expect congestion during portions of your travel. We recommend arriving at the airport no later than 90 minutes prior to your scheduled departure. This will allow for ample time to board your flight.

Even Santa's carry-on baggage has limitations. Passengers are limited to one carry-on bag plus one personal item, such as a briefcase, backpack, etc. Also, checked bags should weigh less than 50 pounds to avoid extra fees. Security makes the season bright. Due to high passenger numbers, security will likewise increase. Be prepared for additional local and federal law enforcement personnel at airport parking facilities as well as within airports. Also, have your government-issued identification handy as you'll need to present it more than once before departing.

Don't lock down your luggage. Security protocols allow TSA agents to sever locks on luggage to conduct inspections.

Hold off on gift wrapping. Wrapped packages will be unwrapped by TSA. You may want to ship them ahead of time or have arrangements to wrap them after arriving at your destination. Above all, patience is key for a safe and enjoyable travel experience.
