New York, NY August 2006...South African Tourism has organized a major presence at the Motivation Show, which is taking place at McCormick Place South in Chicago, on September 26 to 28, 2006.

Some 20 South African product providers will join South African Tourism at their Booth #3429, to provide one stop shopping for meetings, incentives and associations planners attending the show.

“We view Business Tourism as a major untapped market, and we are launching our business tourism platform to the US market this year,” said Dr. Felicia M. Suttle, president of South African Tourism, USA. “We are launching our business tourism campaign as ‘Business Unusual’ because we believe South Africa has a completely unique offering based on our brand positioning,” she continued. “Our offering places the emphasis on an unusual approach to business, a fresh perspective that will enhance the effectiveness of business travel endeavors, ultimately offering better results and value for money.”

South Africa ranks among the top 35 convention destinations worldwide, and has built a solid reputation for successfully staging and handling large international groups and events, ranging from the World Summit on Sustainable Development in 2002, with 35,000 participants, to the 18th World Petroleum Congress in 2005, with 5,000 attendees. A number of major international meetings and events are currently scheduled, including the International Diabetes Association in December (10,000 attendees), the Federation of International Obstetrics in 2007 (10,000 attendees), and of course, the FIFA World Cup in 2010, the biggest event on the planet.

As an incentive destination, South Africa is also uniquely positioned to offer the most spectacular and thrilling itineraries, based on its many attributes as a world-class leisure destination. South African Tourism will host a special workshop and seminar on Thursday, September 28, from 11:00 a.m. - 11:45 a.m. designed to inform and educate planners on the Business Unusual proposition, and all that South Africa has to offer their corporate, associations and incentive clients.

The South African Tourism USA team, headed by Dr. Suttle, will include Arthur Lugo, Business Tourism Manager and Tshifhiwa Tshivhengwa, Information Officer. Angeline Lue, General Manager - Global Business Tourism based in Johannesburg, will also be attending.
