SEVILLE, SPAIN (PRWEB) August 11, 2005 -- Gladiator movie director Ridley Scott chose southern Spain's exotic Andalucia region, site of various crusader battles, for various medieval scenes in The Kingdom of Heaven.

MagicalSpain.com, an American tour company in Spain, chose Andalucia for the ancient white-washed hill towns, romantic ambiance, olive groves, tapas cuisine, colourful locals and legendary Seville and Granada.

American Sheila Roberts, chose their Andalucia tour for other reasons.

"We didn't want planning, driving or foreign languages hassles. Also we liked the idea of meeting and talking to Spaniards outside of the hotels and shops but don't speak Spanish,” she commented.

With this in mind, MagicalSpain.com, a U.S. owned travel company founded in 1998 and recommended by PBS TV host Rick Steves and a member of the American Society of Travel Agents, created Secrets of Andalucia, a guided Spain tour with just 12 persons.

The idea came from bilingual Americans Richard Harris and Dan O'Beirne plus Spaniards Rosa Ferrer and Dr. Mercedes Correa.

“Meeting interesting people when traveling enriches the experience tremendously and is something not offered anywhere else” said Mr. Harris, who has traveled in Spain for over 25 years.

Mr. O'Beirne,a Spain resident for 8 years, is an enthusiastic history, food and wine aficionado with family roots in Louisiana and Spain. "In the past, only our VIP private tour clients got this experience but we decided to innovate” said Mr O'Beirne who personally leads many of the interactive small group Andalucia tours.

The Secrets of Andalucia tour has been so popular that MagicalSpain.com has announced it will add a special 2005 edition, Oct. 22 – 30. A flamenco dancer, a businessman, a bullfighter and an artist are scheduled to meet with the group. Highlights include fun private walking tours, a cooking demo, Flamenco dance show, olive oil mill, a Picasso exhibition, medieval villages, Seville, Granada and festive dinners with wine.

Ms. Roberts was very satisfied. “The experience was fun, educational and memorable, especially talking the bullfighter about the 2000 pound bull.” she said. She hopes to repeat the experience with three friends on a 2006 MagicalSpain.com tour exploring Barcelona, La Rioja, Pamplona in northern Spain. Maybe Ridley Scott will join up also.
