Tejano Superstar Pepe Aguilar Coming to Spotlight 29 Casino
Multiple Grammy Winner in Concert April 23
COACHELLA, Calif., Jan. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Considered to be the voice of the new generation of Mexican music, Pepe Aguilar is one of the leading performers, composers and producers in the Latin music scene, having worked with many of the industry's biggest names. Now the multiple Grammy winner is appearing at Spotlight 29 Casino.
Aguilar performs in Spotlight 29 Casino's Spotlight Showroom on Sunday, April 23. Showtime is 8:00 p.m., and tickets are $90, $80, $70 and $60. Tickets go on sale this Wednesday, January 25 at 10:00 a.m., and will be available at the Spotlight 29 showroom box office, StarTicketsPlus.com or by calling (800) 585-3737.
Born in the U.S. and raised in Zacatecas, Mexico, Aguilar is the son of recording legends Antonio Aguilar and Flor Silvestre, and has said that he practically grew up between concerts. His parents encouraged him to start singing, and he seemed destined for the spotlight from the beginning, performing in his first live stage appearance at age three at New York's Madison Square Garden.
As a teen, he bought a drum set and explored rock music, and has said he was inspired by Pink Floyd and the Who. "Rock music has been my inspiration and my weapon. The sound of my Mexican music has that seal of distinction by rock, and I produce and write my songs based on rock," Aguilar says on his website.
Later, as he entered his 20s, he returned to Tejano, and has since become a major figure in Latin music scene. He first achieved major success with the 1998 release "Por Mujeres Como Tu," which sold nearly 2 million copies and stayed 52 weeks on the Billboard Top 20. Now he has 14 albums to his credit, has sold more than 8 million records, and has 15 Billboard-chart topping hits. Aguilar also was the first Latin artist to appear in concert at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles, filling the room for three consecutive concerts.
